Hi,

I cannot log into my router through 192.168.1.1. I can log in through other devices (Laptop/iPhone) but not from my laptop.

1.It pings 192.168.1.1
2.I tried giving my laptop a static IP address with the default gateway set to 192.168.1.1. Didn't work.
3.Checked my ipconfig ; Default gateway actually is 192.168.1.1.
4.Turned off my Kasperksy Internet AND Windows Defender and checked, still didn't work.

Highly appreciate if anyone could advise what's wrong :|

Do you have the problem with ethernet and WiFi?

I recall hearing issues like this awhile back related to Kaspersky. I strongly recommend Malwarebytes over Kaspersky unless you have just paid for that, etc. At least I would recommend completely uninstalling Kaspersky to see if that allows the router connection... then reinstall if you don't want to go to Malwarebytes.

It's not just for one router, I can't log into any router ; DLink,ZTE,Huawei.
Google Chrome says "This site can’t be reached. The connection was reset."

Then problem is with your laptop network/adapter settings.

Go into Device Manager and uninstall your network adapter. Shutdown and reboot your computer. That should reinstall network adapter with default settings and hopefully clear up issue.

You can also try to run an elevated command prompt and reset ip/winsock:

"netsh int ip reset"
"netsh winsock reset"

and also:

"ipconfig /flushdns"
"ipconfig /release"
"ipconfig /renew"

Are you able to browse to regular internet sites?

Try disabling IPv6 in your adapter settings. Also, please copy/paste your adapter's IPv4 settings

Also try "tracert 192.168.1.1" from a command prompt and copy/paste results.

Just to be sure, do you only have one network adapter showing in your connections screen? No Hyper-V or loopback adapters, right?

Connections screen = Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections

You DNS server should not be 192.168.1.1. It should be obtained from the router, which in turn should be getting those from your ISP. If you really wish to manually set these, they should be set to something like the Google DNS servers (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4). Preferably, though, all of these addresses should be set to automatically obtain from router.

Yea you are right, i completely uninstalled Kaspersky and it worked!
But i even turned off the protection and exited the app and checked it still didn't work though. Any idea what i should change in order to allow the router connection?

I'm not a Kaspersky guy at all, but something called SafeBank or something like that rings a bell. Some feature built into Kaspersky to help protect information exchanges with banks somehow caused router communication issues...but again that's a vague recollection.

Seriously, though, if you take a poll here, you'll find 99 out of 100 of us recommended Malwarebytes. Malware scanning is free... 24/7 protection is $40/year these days.

Actually its fine now! I just re-installed Kaspersky and did a restart and i still can log into the router! Thank you really! Been scratching my head and surfing through google for days and i didn't try this! And sure, after my subscription finishes i'll think about using Malwarebytes :D
What do you think about the protection from Malwarebytes? From what i read online, they say Malwarebytes acts as a supplement and an extra layer of security, not as a substitute for a fully fledged Anti-virus. How has the experience been for you so far with it?
