I have had the i7 4770 for 3 years and a half now, so think its time to upgrade.
Now I see its a different socket.

Will it be a matter of just remove the 4770 and put the 7770 or I need a new board?

LGA 1151 vs LGA 1150

You will need a new LGA 1151 motherboard. The new Z270 chipset motherboards have been released to accommodate the new 7th-gen CPUs. I believe most/some 6th-gen LGA 1151 motherboards will support the new CPU with an updated BIOS. But an LGA 1151 motherboard is required nonetheless. LGA 1150 motherboard will not support an LGA 1151 CPU.

Honestly, though, I would have to ask why. Everything I've read so far concludes that the performance gains would be minimal, clock-for-clock. The Kaby Lake processors start at higher clock speeds, though.

I'm a cheap bastard, but in terms of performance gains, if your 4770 based system is doing what you need, a CPU upgrade to the latest gen processors won't gain you much.
