yum not working

im trying to install something with fedora 16 live cd but i keep getting this error message:

Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: fedora. Please verify its path and try again

how can i fix this so i can continue to do what i am trying to do?

i got a computer from a friend and we can't remember the password, i tried to get in with the administrator account and that didn't work so i'm going to use something called chntpw to reset the password. i found out that i can do all that with a live cd but don't know how to get rid of that error message i mentioned earlier.

what can i do to update that file?

Cant really help you on these forums with password recovery.
As far as live cd try using fedora 25

i really don't need a password reset any more, i figured out what the password was but i will take a look at the link that was posted about if the issue comes up again (i hope not!)
