Hi, again he got both the motherboard and CPU from eBay used the previous owner claimed everything was working fine for him I'm just wondering how I could update the bios to the latest one if the computer is not posting.

Thanks,
Peter.

Hi, sorry forgot to add the PSU It's a 900W not sure on the brand we have already tried most of the things listed on the on that thread not sure what else to try, to be honest, is there any way for us to update BIOS without the CPU maybe it needs updating to work with the i5 4690k?

If the seller is honest, then there's no reason to update the BIOS.

If you want to try to update, though, you have to buy an older Ivy Bridge CPU that's compatible with the board in order for the board to boot up in the first place. Then and only then will you be able to update the BIOS.

If you haven't tried it, remove the CMOS battery from the board for a minute and replace. Sometimes when a motherboard detects a different system it just doesn't want to work. Resetting the CMOS will bring it back to how it came from the factory - even deeper than just selecting "Restore default settings" in the BIOS.

And boot ONLY with the minimal components needed (i.e. no GPU, one RAM stick, etc.)

Hi, again I forgot to mention that the CPU didn't come with the motherboard that's from a different seller on eBay that's why I'm thinking the BIOS could be on an old version and a newer BIOS is required to run the i5 we have already taken the CMOS out waited a few minutes and replaced it back I'm out of options basically.

Hi everyone just a quick update we have brought an Intel Pentium G3258 to update the BIOS to the latest version for it to support the Intel i5 4690k CPU but for some reason, It's still not booting up just a black display and nothing else I can confirm the CPU is working because I have tried it in another motherboard just wondering what could be causing the problem?
