I am looking to buy a new motherboard, CPU and RAM (Only need ram if the CPU only supports DDR4) for around £120-£130 ($147). Would really prefer an Intel CPU, but if I would get a massive amount of performance from say a FX 6300, I may look into that option. I have been looking at a Pentium G4400 for a possible CPU for this system, which will also give me a good socket to upgrade CPU in the future. Just so you know, I am currently on an AMD A4-3300 APU so my current motherboard would not support a newer CPU that would be good enough for the price.

Would this affect the price of Intel chips? I am not really looking for an AMD processor.

Lets say that the new AMD products perform as amazingly well as they're supposed to, and they price them in a way that puts the hurt on Intel... For instance.. lets say double the performance of comparable intel chips for half the price... That would force Intel to drop prices to remain competitive..
