6700K broke at first use (happened before), why?

I bought the 6700K and Asus Z170i Pro Gaming itx board, with 2x16Gbs of Hyperx Fury 2400Mhz RAMs.

I was using my first 6700k no problem for 2 days, and suddenly it shut off and would never boot again, it would power on but it wouldn't go into BIOS.
I contacted Intel and they've sent me a replacement, put in the CPU and it worked again, however literally 20 minutes later the same thing happened again. And the only things I've done with it was turning on XMP, using the BIOS auto overclock to 4.6Ghz at 1.36-1.37v

What caused the issue? I've contacted Asus before and they claim that the RAMs are not on their compatibility list and therefore it could be the problem, but they couldn't disable the CPU though? My original thought was because of the overclock, but it is a very mild overclock and I've never heard anyone breaking a CPU in minutes because of overclocking.

And what about a replacement? I'm certain that the CPU can no longer be used (tested with other motherboard, PSU etc), will Intel provide a replacement again? But this time it is apparent that it is not the CPU's fault, the problem was caused by something else...

Any help would be appreciated!

Hm, i have that exact motherboard and CPU and didn't have any problems at all.

You OCd prior to getting an OS installed? Sounds like you used the 15% auto OC? When i did that i had to bump up my CPU voltage offset up and also adjust my DRAM voltage up and drop the speed down closer to 3200 to get it to boot using the XMP profile timings.

Clear CMOS and start over. It sounds like bad UEFI settings to be 100% honest, but if tech support couldn't get you back into the UEFI either than maybe not... Have you tried restoring a recovery UEFI?

I had the OS installed beforehand of course, I was using my first CPU about 2 days before it would never turn on again.

Yeah I used that 15% auto overclock thing, but last time I did a manual overclock. Forgot to mention, the system went black screen and died when I was in the BIOS, so not like I was stressing it to its limits..

There is nothing wrong with the BIOS, and trust me I have tried many times clearing CMOS but clearly there was something wrong with the CPU, the Q-LED turns on when I turn on the PC so. And everytime I turn the PC on it will power on for a second and Q-LED flashes, and it shuts off itself, as if it was preventing a short..

Do you think it could be the RAM? And do you think Intel would send me a replacement again?

EVGA 650G3 and Corsair H110i GTX so definitely not, in fact when I had 4.8Ghz for my first CPU the highest temp in stress test was only 75, so I really don't know why
