Can someone please tell me how to overclock with these two? I think the mobo needs a specific BIOS update(its my understanding later updates locked the G3258) but Im not sure which one.

But say I am right and the latest BIOS update locks the G3258. If I did find out which older BIOS I need, will I be able to download that and OC or will I be fucked cause I downloaded the latest version? Basically Im worried downloading the latest BIOS will irreversibly lock the G3258

Most BIOS's will allow you to downgrade unless it specifically states it cannot.

That being said, all of the BIOS descriptions are available (whcih summarize their fixes etc), and not a single one lists 'removing OC support'.

I can;'t find anybody mentioning they can no longer OC on the H81I-Plus.

Did you read something that has gotten you worried about this? OCing support is rarely removed from a motherboard.

I built this months ago after extensive research, couldnt OC, read somewhere about what I've been talking about and gave up cause I got scared. Now my reason for building it has risen again and Im stuck in the same spot. If I remember correctly, I read about some who could OC at first but continued BIOS updates impulsively and got their chips locked

That's news to me then. There's no reason a chip should get 'locked' on that board.

Looks like it could be done on the H81M-Plus, with BIOS 2110

You have a slightly different board, and slightly different BIOS numbers.... so I'm not sure.

What BIOS revision are you on currently?

Version 2001 brought support for the G3258, so if you're having issues and can flash the BIOS to older versions, that would give you the best chance of 'full scale' support - but I doubt it's necessary.

Wow your right. Why didnt I see that? Im not sure which version I have, not with my PC right now. Its a used board so hopefully its not the latest, Im guessing it should be fine.

Last thing tho, theres 2 different versions of some versions(I think thats why I didnt download it) including the 2001. Should I get the 12MB one or the 5MB one?
