Hello, today i tried to build my first ever pc but i have come to a problem. I try to turn on the pc and you can see the LED lights on the pc turn on, the fan turning on and a green light on the motherboard showing but the pc itself shuts down 1 second after that. I cannot fully plug the 24 pin connector, there is a 1 or 2 mm gap( it is veryyyyyyyyy minimal) and i have tried with enormous force to push it in and hear the click but i cannot. Do you think the problem can be from the power connector? Or if it is not, what can be the problem?

Thank you!

I see what you mean with the standoffs. Should be good there then. Did you ever make sure that the power button isnt accidentally wired to the wrong pin? The wrong pin can make the computer think that the button is being held down all the time. When you press the button you cause it to not be "held in" until you release the button. From there it turns on for a bit until the "held in" power button turns it back off.

The motherboard has to be properly screwed into the standoffs to prevent any type of weird grounding issues. If the ATX power connector were the problem I would think that it wouldn't turn on at all but I haven't had a gap before.

Are you sure that the front panel power button and reset buttons are plugged into the right pins? It could be that the power button is plugged into the wrong one and turns itself off that way. I would also check the CPU cooler as it could be shutting itself off due to overheating. If the cooler isn't properly fitted onto the CPU it would shut down to protect itself after it gets too hot.

Just spit balling here since there could be a couple different causes.

Do you have the 4pin/8pin power connector plugged in?

Make sure the CPU cooler is plugged in to the CPU Fan header correctly.
The advice LilDog said about the cooler being on good is very necessary, but 1-2 seconds is too quick to shutdown due to CPU getting too hot unless you just did not put the cooler on at all.

Did you install the standoffs to raise the motherbaord above the metal of the case?

The case came with standoffs so i just screwed the motherboard, but i dont have the right screws and the motherboard is loose and it is shaking when i touch it at some parts.

New cases should come with screws for the standoffs. Did you get a used case with the mobo already removed or something?

At this point, even if the screws are not the problem, I dont advise doing anything more with the computer until you can fix this issue so you dont create additional risk of damaging parts.

Which case is this? I have had cases ranging from cheap to expensive but never had any of them come pre installed so be careful here with this. I have had a buddy fry a motherboard due to a standoff issue.

This is the case:https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00I9XOSLW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
You can see the standoffs on the 4th picture.

When i turn the pc on and there is a green light flashing on the motherboard doesnt that mean that the motherboard is okay?
