Upgrade now or wait for Zen?

Hello,
My current rig was built about five years ago and so far it's held up to everything I've thrown at it. It has a ASUS M4A785-M Motherboard w/AMD Phenom II x6 1045t and 8 gigs of DDR2 Ram.

My video card is a Radeon r7 250x and currently running Windows 10 64 bit.

I'm looking at AM3+ motherboards and was wondering if I should buy one or wait for AM4/Zen? I would like a "future proof" socket that has a descent upgrade path for gaming. What would you guys suggest? I got about 300 laying around to do this with.

Ahh, okay. So, is my current processor still good for gaming by today's standards? I know DDR2 is obsolete as well, and was hoping to upgrade to DDR3, oh well. I guess I'll wait it out and invest in DDR4.

if you want to upgrade now then get an intel core i3 or i5 cause even an i3 beats AMD FX chips in performance. you could wait for Zen but it may end up still not matching or come close to having the performance of intel's current or previous gen CPU's

Your current setup is getting to be pretty outdated , I would wait to see what Ryzen has to offer and it should be decent based on info currently available.

Could you recommended a Micro ATX Intel Motherboard/Cpu/Ram combo that's within budget? I have 300 bucks to spend, but can throw in a little more if needed.

Wait for RYZEN then compare it to intel offerings , that way you can get the most out of your purchases.
