Ok so basically, i recently built myself a brand new pc. All parts were bought brand new..... Execpt for the harddrive, i figured i had a decent sized harddrive in my old computer which was a western digital blue 500gb with all my old computers stuff, i used it and it worked fine until i realized it was bottlenecking my system when disk usage was at 100%. Naturally my first thought was "well il get a nice sized ssd and keep the hdd as storage" so i went out to the store and bought myself an SP Super sata 3 ssd, 240gb in space. I went on youtube and got to watching all the videos on how to clone drives and i am almost certain iv done it correctly. But i keep getting different errors lik "windows has failed" and so on so fourth. Iv been troubke shooting for 3 days now with no real progress other then loosing all my files when I finally decided to reinstall windows 10 and not keep anything because the other options were not available and didnt even give me an option to put it on my ssd as windows 7 would... I also has trouble getting the disk to even boot off the start screen so i had to run the install windows 10 package inside of windows. I tried playing around in the bios changing from ide to ahci i think it was which is what one person said. My system almost bricked earlier and i thought motherboard was faukty but fixed that by turning on and off from psu while holding on button again from a guide. Iv tried recloning, using different software, checking compatibility online, unpluging then trying to install which would not work because the cd would not boot to install windows without the harddrive . Im honestly so frustrated and im wondering if its a compatibility issue . Coming in this site is all i got left really.

MY COMPUTER PARTS ARE

AMD FX6300

Gigabyte 78MT-USB3 Motherboard

Western digital blue 500 gb

SP sata 3 SSD 240gb

gtx 1060 3gb

If you were trying to boot from the old hdd (if it has an OS on it), you should do a clean install of windows

Which you've done now

So you changed the bootdisk in the bios to the windows dvd saved settings, and that didnt work either?

What happened when you tried to boot from the windows dvd?

You should put it AHCI if you install Win7 or 10.

Unplug the other hdd then try and install on the SSD

So you tried to clone from HDD to SSD?

Questions:
1. What software did you use?
2. What size/make/model is the SSD?
3. How much total used space is in the current C drive?
4. Can you return the system back to original working condition with the original HDD?

i think il retry what you said and get back on this post

ok so basically, i did that and i thought it was gonna work when i saw it booting but when i tried to install it said "The computer started using the Windows installation media. Remove the installation media and restart your computer so that Windows starts normally. The, insert the installation media and restart the upgrade. (DO NOT SELECT ICUSTOM (ADVANCED)I TO PERFORM AN UPGRADE. Custom (advanced)i installs a new of windows and deletes your programs and settings.
