I have a gaming computer that I recently moved which always but no longer has ethernet connected to it. It is now moved across the house from the router and I get 1 bar of range with my trendnet ac1200 pcie adapter. I had extenders in the wall outlets but my dog rips them out and chews them up. I need something can reach probably up to 250ftish. I am willing to spend up to $50-60 dollars for it. I am also ok with buying a USB adapter IF it is truly stronger. Which I doubt.

Almost every adapter puts out the same power. For example the ones linked above put out 28db. The legal limit is 30db and almost all equipment is 28 or 29db. They try to make their product look impressive with big antenna but all it means is they are using a 19db radio and a 9db antenna. It will work the same as a device that has a 23db radio and 5db gain antenna.

There really is no magic solution. You will never get 250ft. Almost all indoor products are recommended maximum of 100ft and many people get nowhere near that. Outdoors with directional equipment you can get more distance.

You want to make sure your current pci card is not having the signal blocked. You want the antenna facing the router. PCI cards work really bad when you put them under a desk against a wall since the signal is blocked from almost all directions. They do make antenna extension cable that will allow you to move the cable away but they are kinda expensive.

Your best option are powerline converters and better dog training

.... a added though make sure you are using 2.4g. You will not be able to run 802.11ac since it only runs on the 5g band but 2.4g signal is not absorbed by the walls of the house as easy.
