Well in witcher 3 which is heavily gpu bound yes switching to something like a 1050 ti would probably help a lot. Same for skyrim graphical mods, you dont need that great of a cpu to run skyrim well and for the most part graphical mods like ENB's and texture packs will just add load to the gpu. As for bf4 I'm not sure, if it runs at 60fps constantly at low settings I would think getting a better gpu would help you run the game at higher settings 60fps, however if it does dip below 60 on low with your 370 it may still with a better gpu.

You can find out for sure by getting something like msi afterburner (its free) to monitor your cpu and gpu usage while playing games. If you are playing a game and you see that cpu usage is higher than...

How bad? Its not going to run very well on that system, the 370 is not a very powerful card and fallout 4 just does not run very well with AMD cpu's. Here is a benchmark below your 860k should be about on par maybe slightly worse due to lower clock speeds than the A10 7870K in this benchmark, they are using a 980 ti for gpu. Consoles run the game at sub 1080p 30fps, i'm sure your system could do that. And console and pc performance are not really directly comparable, the console version is optimized to specifically run on the hardware its given with a low level API, the pc version has to run on countless different setups.

What kind of framerates do you get near sanctuary? I dip into the 30s on ultra with a 1060 in the city, or in diamond city. Same thing if I lower the settings to all low. My 1060 is more than capable of running fallout 4 maxed out at over 60fps however my CPU is not and I have an fx 6350 at 4.7ghz.

So no I doubt switching to a 1050 ti will solve any of your issues as you are cpu limited, try medium settings or whatever your GPU should be capable of and I bet you wont see any difference in performance. When you are CPU limited in a game changing the settings wont help much, your average and peak framerates will go up but your low framerates will stay the same or close to it.

Hmm i see, well i was only using fallout 4 as an example as to see if there would be an fps boost, what about other games? Skyirm for example, i run it just fine heavy modded but im limited to the graphic mods i put on, if i get a 1050 TI would that greatly improve the over head for graphic mods? also, what about games like witcher 3, i run at medium/high at 40 fps and battlefield 4 at 60 fps on low/high

Alright sweet, for my gaming needs, getting a GPU will help a lot, i dont play many CPU intensive games but when i do i manage somehow, not with fallout 4 tho, its hell
