I just built a PC this Christmas and I have been trying to get the sound to work but it just won't. I don't know what the problem is and if anyone could help me figure it out that would be great! The playback device says Digital Audio (S/PDIF) it shows the audio bars moving when I am in the playback menu and I test it but I cannot hear anything. Also when I plug in headphones it does the same thing, I can see the audio levels but I cannot hear anything..

You need to change the playback device to Speakers or whatever you are using. I don't believe you are using s/pdif. Also, did you instal the appropriate motherboard sound driver?
