Hello,

i am finally building a new PC for myself and i wanted to buy a nice mATX board with a powerful GFX card.

My specs so far:

CPU: i7 7700k
MOBO: Asus Prime Z270M-Plus
GFX: Palit GeForce GTX 1080 GameRock (NOT Premium)
RAM: 32GB DDR4-3600 Corsair
SSD: 1 x Samsung 960 Evo M.2 NVMe

Now the question is if the Palit GTX 1080 will fit onto the Board. I know the Case is something to be considered and i already found a pretty Case that is suited for a 290mm Card, but does the Board support a Card that takes the space of 3 Expansion Slots?

I have read the very helpful tomshardware review of the 1080 cards (http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1080-graphics-cards,4725-10.html) and looked at the specs carefully.
The Specs for the Board aren't as well documented in that area (https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/PRIME-Z270M-PLUS/overview/) and you can see on the pictures of the Board that it *should* be enough space i guess, but there is no real confirmation.
Also you can see on this picture of the Board (https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/PRIME-Z270M-PLUS/overview/websites/global/products/iXTm2EUHmCZTeXUL/images/mb/mb.jpg) that the second M.2 port will probably be blocked if i have such a huge GFX Card installed?
For now i will have only the one M.2, which i could install above the GFX area, but i would like to have the option to install a second one in the future.
I know the board is new and all but maybe someone can help me anyway :)

Thank you.

This card should be able to fit together with two M.2 SSDs. Even though the card is a big 3 slot unit, it will not interfere with the M.2 SSDs, because the card expands vertically (depending on how you place and build your system, that is) while the SSD lay flat along the mobo. So yes, this should work. If you have no plans of utilizing the two PCIe x1 ports that will be blocked by the GPU, you should be good, as long as the GTX 1080 fits in whatever case you buy. The motherboard is not the limit for how many slot card you pick, but the case is.

In short, pick a case that supports the Palit's size and you should be good.

hmmm your gpu should (I fit mines in fine under the same curcumstances) be able to fit if you flip it upside down although it might cover one of your pcie 1 and about the sli you still have one pcie 1 slot left so you should be fine
