As the title states I'm having high CPU usage and I'm trying to figure out as to why. I have an i7 4790K, and on games such as division or battlefield 1 it's always in the 90% range when it never was close before. It's normally half that maybe a little more. If it helps any I bought a new graphics card (1070). Should I be concerned and will this sudden jump in usage harm my processor? My temps are normal and I get no stutters.

Solution
It won't harm your processor, and having a CPU usage increase after a GPU upgrade is normal, if you get a more capable GPU, your CPU also has to work harder to feed it data to allow for higher framerates. As long as the CPU is not overheating under heavier load, there is no problem.

That's what I figured, I just wanted to double check. I did up my settings A LOT from my 970 so that makes sense. I didn't know if it was related to directx 12 or not because it's supposed to utilize more cores than before so I didn't know if that had anything to do with it. My temps are the same as before when I had my 970. I never go above 45c with my processor.
