I was running my fx 8320 @4.7ghz 1.42v with my r9 270x with no issues. After upgrading to a rx 480 i noticed my pc would freeze. When I reset the bios settings to stock the pc runs fine. But if i raise the voltage to 1.4v+ the pc freezes within 15 min of gaming. All i did was up the voltage and my pc freezes? What could be the issue?

I exchanged the rx480 for a 1070 because i thought the new gpu was the issue but it happens with the 1070 as well. I just upgraded to a corsair cx650m and i tried 2 different psu's and the problem continues.

What would make upping the v core voltage freeze my pc? I run manual set voltage and it does not fluctuate much.

System specs:
Asus 990fx r2.0 pro
8gb adata ram 1600
fx 8320
gtx 1070
corsair cx 650m
Noctua nhd-15 cpu cooler (temps never go above 50c)

Unfortunately I do not believe that is the case since the r9 270x used more power than my gtx 1070, and I upgraded to a new 650w psu (my system only draws around 350w at load).
