Hi, I am building a PC soon and i am getting the 6th Generation Intel® Core™ i5 6500 3.2GHz Socket LGA1151 (Skylake) Processor and was wondering if thermal paste needs to get added to the cpu. I saw somewhere that if they come in boxes they tend to have some already stored onto the cooler.

here is a link to the CPU that i am getting - https://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/processors/intelskylake1151/bx80662i56500.html?gclid=CLGA0OzTsdECFU06GwodLSUNFA#utm_source=google&utm_medium=base&utm_campaign=products

Many thanks

Solution
As long as you are using the stock cpu cooler it is ok to use the pre applied thermal paste.Unless you really want thet extra bit of conductivity then you can clean it off and re do
