I currently have a adata 8gb 1600mhz 1.5v and i just purchased a hyperx 8gb it says it can run up to 1866mhz so im pretty sure i can run the hyperx at 1600mhz automatically. the voltz match. will this work?
You should have no problems returning the kit or exchange to Amazon however again it is not a good idea to add another kit to your existing kit. They may or may not work and it involves Bios changes to Primary Timings and Voltage without any guarantee. Best is to buy a kit the size and frequency you desire that have been tested and keep the others for spares.
Its always good to have spares as that prevents downtime should a DIMM module fail and you have an RMA.
assuming the 2 different kits work, the hyperx will downclock automatically to match the slower ram... mixing ram is hit or miss, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt..
