I have a GTX 1070 8gb
i7 6700k
asus 1151 motherboard
Theres this thing called "TMPIN0" that gets to 70-80c when i play overwatch. But my cpu cores are 30-40c while playing aswell. I've done research but no one else has the same rig i have so im asking this, also i only have 1 TMPIN, other people have TMPIN0, TMPIN1, and TMPIN2. so should i have the other ones? anyway, my TMPIN0 is really sketchy because when i turn off overwatch it drops down to 50c in about 20 seconds. I'm pretty worried by this. Could someone please help? (please dont link to the solved one, i need a answer for my rig) also, my computer doesnt act weird when TMPIN0 reaches these temperatures.

Solution

I'm not really sure what else it could be, but as I said, I don't think it's something you should worry about. TMPIN0 on my Z68 board was always hovering in the 70s and 80's and it's still going strong, now, almost 5 years later.
you shouldn't be worried to much.
there are quite a few temperature sensors on MB.
the can be located under the CPU socket, VRM, chipset and whatever else.
Due to the behavior of the temp it seems like it's the CPU socket sensor. I'm terribly sorry, but I doubt the 30-40C cores temp while gaming.
It would require an excellent custom liquid loop + ambient temperatures below 20C. i'd believe 40-50C.
Based on the socket temp, your cores are more likely to be in ~60C

even if HWMonitor is wrong about my cores, should i be worried about those temperatures? and should i be worried about TMPIN0? and yeah, my cores are mainly 38-50 on HWMontior, sorry i said 30-40 ;P

i also have 2 fans working, but theres 3 fans that dont run. (Thermaltake) Theres 2 on the top and one on the left side. The fans dont light up or spin. how do i fix this. my dad thinks its not plugged in. http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/VR_Ready_Deal_Syber_M_GTX_1060 i have this computer, (upgrades obviously) and for extra case fans i have thermaltake picked. it would mean a lot if you could help me fix this.

I'm going purely on the assumption that it actually IS the VRM, but if so, you still don't really want it getting much hotter than that. The VRM's can handle higher temps, for longer, than CPU's can, though, so you still shouldn't really worry too much.

should i be worried if it was in the 90's?

As far as that goes, I'm not sure. I'd just make sure everything is plugged in correctly, as your dad suggested.

I mean, that's not what you WANT, and you'd really want to keep it lower (again, this is all assuming I'm even right about what the temp is for), if it VRM's they're pretty tough. I think 105 is the max for most.

i was also playing overwatch earlier, it was 70-80, but it dropped down to high 20's in 30 seconds... is it something different than VRM?
