I doubt sata will be phased out but for hard drives maybe pcie will be "used more" but it depends on your needs. You can't have 6 PCIe HDD on a mother board due to the size but sata you can. If your HDD is PCIe you will need a pcie slot, if its sata you need sata, etc.

Yea the Parallel HDD is for servers as servers are demanding.
