Hello so the other while I was working on my computer a bag fell off and hit my computer after a while the computer stopped working and it kept showing error network and boot failed. After searching for solutions online and trying few things, I decided to download a repair program on my external drive ( not sure why, i was hoping it will do something) . When i disconnected and put back my external drive my files all went missing and its name changed to ESD (K) something like that. Unfortunately both my computer is not working and all my assignments I have been working for the university are there but also my external drive with all my photos but also my assignments as well have disappeared all the files. Now I am left with missing files and desperate about my assignments which cannot be found and have to be handed in by the 17th of January.
Could you please give me a solution about my external drive and why it has changed name and all my files are missing?

Best

Never rush off to third party software that can wreck your system. What was its name?

All your PC was trying to tell you it wanted to boot from a network it couldn't find. It needed to do that because it couldn't "see" the hard disk which had probably disconnected in the fall of the bag.

You need to reconnect that disk by opening the hatch on the base and it will be the one with a hard drive icon - three small disc shapes. With luck the data are intact because they weren't connected when the so-called repair utility was running. When you connected the external drive to your other PC, what actually showed up?
