Hello,
So i have a Genius ATX 430W PSU and a Strix GTX 950 Gaming with factory overclock..
Will this PSU be enough to overclock my card?

Thanks..

Solution
Sure. But if your car engine can handle 8000rpm it's also not wise to run it below 2000rpm at any given time.
A quality PSU can constantly run at 85% without issues.
Anything under 50% will hurt the efficiency.
The above build won't draw more than 200W under extreme load.

A high grade supply like a nice Seasonic is artificially limited and there's basically no difference between the 850W and the 550W variant. So running it at a high load shouldn't hurt the supply as is was designed to withstand a lot more.

Anyway with a lesser quality supply I agree 100%

Personally I wouldn't. At the least I recommend 650 watt power supplies because that will give you a bit of head room. That card calls for a 350 watt or greater so it should work but at some point I would upgrade.

Why would you need a 650W PSU???
650W can SLI cards.

The 950 Strix OC uses less than 100W
Your whole system probably under 250W

Except for the fact that "Genius" ain't a brand anyone has heard of and it's probably low quality generally it should work.
If it's wise using a unit like that...I doubt it. Probably a potentially dangerous junk unit.

I'm not a big fan of running anything at its limit. It usually doesn't bode well for electronics. An example is a car engine, it may rev up to 8,000 RPM but it's not the greatest idea to keep it running there.

LOL, where in the world did you come up with that? So many cars would have blown up. Many cars idle at less than 1,000 rpm. That's when you're parked, at stop lights, slowing down etc.. but I'm just going to stop. I've made my point lol.

yeah. many cars idle at less than 1000rpm. usually not those who can handle 8000rpm though.
and driving your sports car at 1500rpm all the time, driving your car in 6th gear through the suburbs with 20 miles does in fact hurt your engine (to be precise your valves) over time.

but anyway, this is a hardware forum.

using your PSU at 30% load tops won't increase the life span of a quality PSU.
using your PSU at 80% loads won't decrease the life span of a quality PSU.
if you look at for example Seasonic PSUs, most parts could easily handle 100W more than it's rated for. Not saying you should do that. But it could.
GIven, that's not the fact with every PSU and there are many many many units where I wouldn't feel comfortable with 80% load.
however those aren't units that I'd ever recommend as they're hardly worth their cheap price.

above card requires 90W.
unless OP is running a FX9xxx CPU 430W would be perfectly fine.
seeing as Genius is not a brand to be trusted, the more genius idea would be to replace it.
a Seasonic S12II-430 or a XFX Pro / Core 450W should easily handle that build, even when upgrading the GPU to something like a GTX1070 though

In my country there arent any Seasonic or XFX PSUs but i will upgrade to a Cooler Master 450W or Corsair CX430 soon..Thanks for your answer!

It doesnt matter really im buying a new PSU since this Genius one is pretty crappy tbh!

It DOES matter, if you have a CPU like a 9590 then a 450W PSU will not suffice.

As components heat up or anything electronic efficiency dumps way down too. It's another reason I prefer going with bigger than what I need. A lot of us car audio guys will run amplifiers way beyond our needs to be more efficient and just run them at 75% of max(also due to clipping issues).

Besides, a 650 watt platinum rated PSU will run you what? $100 or so? To me, I might as well and not have to ever really worry about it. That's what I have in my girlfriend's PC, my computers here at home have 1200 watt'ers.
