Hi,

I have a Gaming PC Setup with the following specs:
i7 4790k at 4.6GHz
Thermaltake Contac 21 CPU Cooler
Asus Z97 PRO GAMER SLI ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
EVGA GTX 980 SC Reference Graphics Card with Back Plate
Kingston HyperX Fury Black 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 2000Mhz RAM
Corsair RM 1000W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply
Philips 272G 27" 1080p G-Sync 1ms 144Hz 3D Monitor
Windows 10 Home on a 500GB HDD
Sound Blaster Sound Card
Aerocool DS 230 Silent Case
Mad Catz R.A.T 7 Wired Mouse
Sharkoon Skiller Keyboard

On PC Part Picker it is worth £1687.05.
I have put it on Gumtree for £1300. Do you think the price is right?

I don't have all the boxes for the parts and I'm not sure about warranty either.

Thanks in advance,
Josh.

Well, if you have been using it for less then two years then yes. If not, then I think 1300$ is to much.
You have to know that just when you buy something it's price drops by 5-10% because it isn't "new" already. I would say about 1100 - 1200 $.

It's just over a year old so i guess taking around £400 off of the "new" price is okay?

The power supply, monitor and motherboard are overkill for my needs so I think someone else who would use them to their potential should have it.
I'm only selling it as a full system because I know people will buy a full system as opposed to a used motherboard/PSU etc.

Thank you!
Do you know any places I can sell it (other than Gumtree and eBay) in the UK? Assuming you're a Brit that is...

Yes. I agree with Zane. You do have it over-priced. As long as you have room for negotiation it's at an okay price. It may scare off some people. There are many people trying to sell their old now that Kaby Lake has been released. Then Zen(AMD) will be released Both Nvidia and AMD have their next gen cards coming out in 2017.

The market is being flooded with old stuff making the 2 generation old 4790K not exactly a $239 CPU. They can spend $239 or less for a 6600K I5 and get more performance for the same amount of money.

Buy a $259 1060 and get more performance than that 980. The part picker information is not one that you should use as ammunition in a negotiation. The prices are inflated and they hurt your case. They hurt it. Spend $400+ on a GFX card? The 1070 will destroy the 980. And it won't have the blower style fan either. They traditionally run hotter. Newer cards will have current gen fanS and be more efficient meaning less of an electrical impact as well.

Win 10 home on a 500GB HDD? In other words it has Windows 10 installed. You sounbd as if you are saying you are selling Windows 10 as a stand alone installed on a the HDD. I have Windows 10 on a OEM disc. Home version. It's also installed on my SSD. Your wording is a bit odd. Win 10 on the 500GB drive. If that drive crashes then what do they have? Nothing. That doesn't add any value. The $89 Win 10 on a disk or USB? More value.

The future of that build is a sad one. I have the 4690K. You have the 4790K( thank you Capt. Obvious:D ). What's the upgrade path? There isn't one as far as the CPU is concerned.

You are selling a PC with a 500GB HDD? That's all? No SSD? No 1TB storage drive? Seems like the owner may have cannibalized a drive or 2 and is trying to sell me leftovers. That's what I would think if I saw this ad. There isn't any extra drive for backups. Just a tiny 500GB drive.

This computer has been pushed it's entire life. It's constantly been overclocked. Has the user maintained good temperatures or is it starting to fail so he/she is selling it. There is an after-market cooler so that's good, I think.

You then say you aren't sure about the warranty. You are the owner but don't know about warranty information? I own the EVGA 970 FTW. It will still be covered by EVGA's warranty for another 2+ years. Ask me anything about my PC that I built and I will give you an answer. It won't be not sure. I want to sell this PC so I need to KNOW it. Don't worry about the boxes too much. That's fluff. The warranties are the meat. I can perform an RMA with anything.

Specifics. Sound Blaster? What's the model number?

With it being overclock did you add additional fan(s) to the case?

$1300? No thank you.

I admire your honesty and I am very grateful for that. I think I'm just going to scrap selling it and just keep it. Truth is it's not even mine (hence the "not sure about the warranty" scenario) I am allowed to sell it though.

I'm new to the whole "Selling my old system" business so I guess I just have the absolutely wrong idea xD.

Thanks for the help and the tough love approach. It's helped a lot.

Thanks for that :) . I can be blunt. I appreciate the fact that you received my response not as rude or something along those lines. It was my honest opinion.
