So I have the Asus strix 1070. It's the non OC version btw. I have my 3th one now since I RMA'd the other 2's for some reasons (I tought something was wrong, but later it wasn't the gpu lol xD). When I started using my 3th one I noticed after a while my fans started doing a bit strange. When the fans are on auto mode they wil turn on at 55c and turn off at 54c. This wil cause an annoying start and stop sound.
I tried using fan curves. I tried a fan curve with the Asus GPU tweak 2 software. It works kinda, but later I have the same problem that the fans start and stop again. I took my gpu out and check if there was something wrong with the fans. There was nothing weird to see...
I installed MSI afterburner and tried a fan curve in there. I discovered that I almost have the same situation like the GPU Tweak 2 fan curve. I descided to put the fans on a manual continiously fan speed to check. I putted it to 80% fan speed, fans turn on and it blows hard (no weird things happening. Just directly 80% speed). I putted it out and I heared the kinda like soft turn on and off sound till it was completely done turning.
I completely uninstalled my nvidia drivers and some Asus programs. I also tried putting my PCI speed to gen3 instead of auto. This helped a bit, but stil the start and stop problem of the fans.
I have 2 clues>
1. It could be my shitty PSU. I have the Sharkoon WPM700bronze. It's know about unstable power, but is it possible that my PSU caused this? I did noticed this problem only after a while.
2. It could be some shit software or some setting I have to adjust. I know Asus is know about it's poor software.
Am I right that 1 of these things could be it?
