Hi there!

I'd like to know if I can upgrade the GPU of my current build with an AMD Radeon RX 460 Graphic Card without any problems. As you can see below I currently have a Nvidia GT 640 GPU with a AMD FX 9590 and PSU of 500 Watt. However, I underclocked my CPU a bit, because my PC used to freeze after 2-3 hours of game time (not sure if it was a overheating or voltage issue). I know that my current build is not the most logical one, but in case if it was a voltage issue I'm wondering if my PSU can handle it when I'm using an AMD Radeon RX 460 which requires more power I believe.

PSU: Corsair CX500M
CPU: AMD FX-9590
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GT 640
Moba: ASUS M5A97 R2.0
RAM: 8 GB

A 460 should have no problems, in that you can get 460s that do not require a 6 pin power connector. I'd suggest the 2gb 460, I think if 4gb is what you want you'd be better served by a 1050 Ti. One thing, your motherboard bios may be set to a secure boot security setup. In that case it might not allow a new card to be installed until you turn that off.

If you have that one issue only after hours of gaming, that makes me think it is a heat issue. The components in your computer, including the power supply, can build up heat over time which can then trigger the problem. A voltage issue unrelated to heat would be present right away. I had a CX430 that I had no complaints about except it did die out after a little over 4 years of use. How old is your PSU?
