I just recently connected to the drive and get this message:
"Drive Name" contains a file system with errors, check forced.
"Drive Name": Error allocating inode bitmap (6): Communication error on send
fsck.ext2:

This is a relatively new drive, 3-4 months old. How can I quickly scan for the offending issue? Once found, do I just have to delete the file(s)?

Is it recommended that I do not leave it plug in and mounted to the router 24/7? I thought the whole idea with a network drive was that you could do that...

I have an Asus RT-N66U router and a Seagate 3 TB external desktop drive. Per a previous issue I was having, it is formatted to a linux file system and do not currently have a computer in the house that runs linux to plug into it.

Solution
Yes, Linux Live CD versions can be booted from a USB drive and don't require to be installed on a HDD.

Hope this will help you understand how to check the drive. Linux commands are case sensitive, -A is not the same as -a.
