GTX 1080 and i7 6700k under-performing.

I recently bought an ASUS Strix GTX 1080 and an i7 6700k after having a Sapphire R9 390x and an AMD FX9590. I've been having some issues in a couple of games where my frames have been less than desirable and clearly not what they should be. For example, I launched The Witcher 3 earlier tonight, and I cannot get above 40 FPS on Low or Ultra settings. I'm also getting much lower than expected FPS in CSGO, where sometimes I get as low as 120 FPS (very low for CS). I assume it's some program messing with my card, or something of that nature. Any help is appreciated.

Intel Skylake i7 6700k
ASrock Z170 Extreme4 LGA 1151
Corsair H100i v2 Liquid CPU cooler
850W PSU
1x Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD
1x Western Digital Blue 4TB SSHD
ASUS VG248QE 144hz 1080p monitor, 24 inch

Check if the Vsync option in games are on. If so, switch it to off. Check your Nvidia Manage 3D settings also and turn off Vsync. You can downlod DDU to uninstall your drivers and then download the latest drivers from Nvidia's website.

Hi,

Monitor GPU temperatures and CPU temperatures. GPU should stay below 84C (actually lower but 84C would be a problem) and CPU temperatures should be below 70C.

We can then reinstall NVidia drivers with clean install ticked but lets first look at temps.

GPU temps under maximum load get up to but not more than 70. CPU is around 45-50 under load. Under normal gaming load the GPU sits around 50. The CPU sits around 20 idle and the GPU sits around 30 idle.
I must also add that some games run perfectly fine. I get 144+ fps in Battlefield 4 with everything on ultra and resolution scale at 200%. Battlefield 1 and Star Wars Battlefront get about 70-90 FPS maxed with 200%. The Witcher seems to be the only game with serious frame issues.

Vsync is usually the first thing I turn off. I'm going to try reinstalling my drivers to see if that fixes anything.
