i bought a computer not the best choice especially from a family member but thats besides the point, the computer had some bad drive which i think is from a laptop. well my games started stuttering so i did every trick in the book from resitting my ram to overclocking nothing worked so now i have my eyes set on my drive and its a TOSHIBA MK5056GSY which old and not very good compared to a western digital if talking just specs. so here the results from cdm http://imgur.com/HVTI0Qs

so here is the questions to answer
is this whats slowing down my system?
would upgrading to the WD Blue 1TB Desktop Hard Disk Drive fix these issues?
Thanks and good day :D

Hey there, Ancient.

Basically the role of the storage drive in terms of gaming ends with how fast it can load your content. So for sandbox games or online open world games, where you need to constantly load new files, a slow drive might end up slowing things down enough for your games to stutter. However, for other games once the game has loaded there should be no issues with its performance.
So first, I'd recommend that you do a diagnostic test, via the HDD manufacturer's diagnostic tool (or a 3rd party tool), to see what's the situation with the drive and if it's in good condition.
You could also try the HDD with a different SATA port and cables, to see if the same thing happens.

Upgrading to a faster drive will result in faster loading of the game and in-game loading screens as well as faster loading of new files needed for open world games.

Hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for the fast response
with the sata cable swap i do have a extra data cable but would this also require a drive power cable?

edit: it seems a new drive was in order anyways as im already running out space on my drive also most of the games i play are open world such as gta 5

Well in this case it could be caused by a slow drive and an upgrade could fix things up. Preferably another SATA cable as well as port should be used. However, if there's a possible issue with the drive, you should backup your most important data, just to be on the safe side until you test the drive and know for sure that it's OK. :)
