Hi All,

I have this system config:

1).Zotac Nvidia 1060 Mini GTX 3gb GPU
2). H170M-D3H DDR4 Motherboard.
3). i5 6402p CPU
4). 8 Gb Ram Kingston crossfire.
5). 500W PSU

This configuration is freezing up literally any game i play. After the game starts the whole screen freezes at any point in the game. Sometimes 5 mins or sometimes even 2 mins into the game.
The screen just stays frozen and I have no option but to do a hard reboot every time.

I have tried the following:

1). Do a clean install of the Nvidia Graphic drivers after the cleanup with DDU.
2). Current driver version is 376.33 for Windows 10 and Windows 8.1 64-Bit.
3). TRried different OS..Windows 7, 8.1, 10 64-bit versions.
4). Tried last 4 previous versions of the drivers to check if they are stable.
5). I checked to see if the Overheating was an issue but its not. The Fans don't stop and I have three big ones in the cabinet. All placed diagonally so no heating issues there.
6). I have tried adding the "TdrDelay" and "tdrLevel" keys in the Registry for Graphic drivers with values as "2/8/10" and "0" respectively.
7). Have also Overclocked my CPU from Bios to a 3.4 instead of the original 2.8 Ghz.
8). Also have made changes to the Power options by making the changes as "maximum performance" in the Graphic card and "Sleep Never" in the hard disk power management.

I have tried almost every possible thing in the forums and m just lost now...And this was supposed to be my decent gaming PC. I feel like throwing this out now. Please someone help and advice..

Games I have tried : CS Go, NFS Rivals, CS Source in the settings as low as 1024x768. All graphic visuals set to "Low" or "Disabled"

PS: i have 4 processors running in the chipset.

Hey,

Thanks for replying back..!!

I can give Memtest86 a shot now..Lets see what comes up. I'll let you know in sometime.

Also i did a check and my CPU temperatures are at a 52 Degress C maximum while gaming.
My GPU usage % is max 38%.

Screenshot attached for details of hardware and the recording.

In Game GPU Usage and Temperatures:

Hardware Specifications of my System:

Also my PSU is a SMPS VIP 500W Gold.

SMPS VIP 500W Gold? You should get other good brand PSU, forget that PSU, because I found the its specifications from other website, it is bad.

You can go to the BIOS, hardware monitor section, check the +3.3V, +5V, and +12V. I think the voltages will be out off the +/- 5% range. If it does, it is bad.

Hi,

I tested the RAM with Memtest and the results look good. No errors there. So i guess the RAM is not an issue then right?

PFB the screenshots of results:

Hi I didnt find any option as such in BIOS to check the +3.3V, +5V, and +12V. I am on a gigabyte bios UI so can you tell me where i can check these... Also can you suggest a good PSU that would be suitable for the configuration I am running.

Thanks in advance...!! :)

Thanks for the info... :) I did check a few PSU in the link. Also i scavenged the forums for a response on what exactly should be a compatible PSU for the Zotac Nvidia 1060 GTX Mini 3gb gpu.

The forums said a 300W is the max this gpu would consume and in an overclocked condition maybe 400W tops so a 450W is more than enough for it. And i am already on a 500W. So got a bit confused should I go for a different PSU. Can you tell me what should i look for in the PSU to supplement my configuration.

I have got one PSU in mind:

http://www.amazon.in/Corsair-RMx-SeriesTM-RM650x-CP-9020091-EU/product-reviews/B015Q7F3NA/ref=dpx_acr_txt?showViewpoints=1

Is this ok?

Your PC did draw less than 450W that is true. But the PSU label, 500W, will not tell you the whole story. Check out the linker for the example. http://www.hardocp.com/article/2014/08/19/cooler_master_gxii_650w_power_supply_review/9

That is why I added the linker for how to buy the PSU, etc. Because a good brand PSU will use the quality components and has the quality build. Also the PSU is the PC's heart.

So you can buy this one seasonic S12II-620 ( no modular ) M12II 620 Bronze

or Corsair RM Series RM550 https://www.theitdepot.com/shopping-cart.html

Sure sure I will. But before that can u do a memtest86 run on your memory stick? Let me know if you need the memtest86 setup working tool to do that. I have read that in most cases the Memory stick being faulty can be a prominent reason for this.

Yesterday I disabled the option "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" for the USB ports in device manager, also for some other devices which had this option, this seems to have solved my problem. No freeze till now. You may want to try this too.

Same problem is persisting again, I tried new RAM also but no improvement. Interestingly the problem doesn't occur when I play CS : GO .
While playing Doom (2016) I am able to play smoothly for 30 to 40 mins but then if I access the journal the PC freezes. While playing Dota 2 the PC freezes within 10 to 15 minutes, same with Witcher 3.
I tried zotac 750 ti card also but same problem there too.

Edit : Freezing in CS GO as well. Also tried Windows 8.1, no success.

Ohhh I see...
So i guess this leaves us with none other than a PSU change isn't it?
I dont have a ready access to a good PSU...Will have to wait for it to arrive by this month end. Can u maybe borrow from someone and connect it to see if that helps/?

Btw sorry for late reply i was out on a trip last couple of days.

I purchased it from bwindia.net They delivered the assembled PC to me in Pune through VRL Logistics.
Its a online catalog shop in Bangalore. Had heard a lot about it online.

I have already ordered a new PSU of corsair 650 W. My vendor told me he will replace it at differential cost. Will inform once it comes. And the PC doesnt seem to freeze as much in old games like CS GO and Dishonoured as it is in DOOM and Witcher 3. Also most of the time freezing happens when I am accessing a journal or menu while playing game, I mean like I can play DOOM for 40 mins or so but the moment I press tab to access the journal PC freezes within seconds. It also got frozen while scanning with windows defender.

Hi,

Did you get the new PSU? Did it fix your problem?
I did a BIOS update using the Gigabyte utility and it seems to have fixed the problem for a while. I have played Cs : Go for straight 2 hours without a crash. Als was keeping torrents running and other apps to have the pc on max load.
Will give GTA V a shot now.
