I have a i3 2100 3.1 and I already saw that he going botterneck the GPU.
Ass I cant play in 1080p, max on 1600x900, the botterneck world be softer?
Ps. I could trade my processor for a i5 3xxx. In this case the botterneck gonna be solved?
Thanks guys!

An Ivy Bridge i5 with a 1060 or 1050 is still a good combination for that resolution. CPU issues vary between games, some games will run pretty much the same on the i3 or i5 but generally (and the trend is increasing) you'll get a decent improvement in fps with the CPU upgrade.

What does it matter? If your monitor is either 1280 x 720 or 1600 x 900 resolution, then I presume it's only 60 Hz. Even with an i3-2100, I'm confident that you can hit that benchmark. With that said, you could sell your i3-2100 on Ebay for $30-$40 and buy a used i5-2500K for $80-$90. The i5-3570K and i5-2500K have a less than 10% performance differential, so the 2500K is a shrewd buy for just a $50 difference. FY: 1600 x 900 is roughly 70% of the pixel count of 1920 x 1080.

By the way, I think that you would be well served to list your full specs, including your power supply's manufacturer and model number. And in addition, two or three games that you wish to play. Up to you.

Going i5/i7 3xxx will require a new mobo.
I would rather upgrade your processor to at least i5 2500k but keep the platform so that you do not have to replace the mobo and the RAM too. You can try to find second handed i5/i7 2xxx on eBay.
Second handed i7 2600 or 2600kwill also do the trick.

Bewteen GTX1060 and GTX1050Ti, I would go for the GTX1060, if your budget permits. You just have to pair it with the i5/i7 2xxx, if you can.

How do you know he would need a new mobo for a 3rd gen cpu? Many of the 2nd gen mobos will take 3rd gen cpus with a bios update.

If you have such mobo, which can accept the 3xxx only with BIOS update, it is your luck.
Some mobos never received any BIOS update to accept the next generation processors.
If you have a good mobo from well-known brands, you should have good BIOS support/update.
If you are unsure or afraid to upgrade the BIOS, just stick with i5/i7 2xxx.
BIOS upgrade is easy tho'. Nothing to be afraid of.

BTW, what is the current mobo?
