The GTX 970 easily outperforms the 1050ti. But you need to list the resolution you will be running is it 1080P? I own both cards. the 1050ti I paired with my 12 year old son's I5 750 socket 1156 from 7 years ago. He only had a 300 watt power supply so the GTX 970 simply would not work or fit in his cramped case. He runs a 1600x900 display and plays all these current games without any issues on High settings. Total war Rome, Total war Attila, Napoleon Total War, Medieval Total War, Fallout 4, Mad Max, Sim city, War of the Roses, Chivalry, War Thunder, The Forest etc.. I would not pair his 1050ti on a 1440P Display. I pair my GTX 970 on a 1440P Overclockable Korean display and run it at 90 Mhz with VSYNC enabled. I can basically hit around the same FPS as my son using a Haswell I54770K at 4 Ghz. He will get this system to replace his aging system in 18 months.
