Hello everyone,

I'm having a bit of isseu with my PC.
I have tried everything to fix it but i couldnt find a solution so here i am on Toms Hardware!

About an half year ago i've bought a GTX 1060 and after some research i've send it back and payed some more for a Gigabyte G1 gaming 1070.

But the problem im expierancing is im having low FPS/poor performance while playing games or just using my computer.
My problems very from bleu screen of dead to only getting 50-70fps on Overwatch and 70fps on Battlefield 1 and thats around 50+- fps less than a normal Gigabyte 1070.
I play on 1920x1080.

I bought the parts and build this PC on 2 september
These are my specs: (i have nothing overclocked)
CPU: Intel i7 6700K @4,2
GPU: Gigabyte G1 gaming 1070
Motherboard: MSI Z170-A PRO
CPU cooler: Mugen 4 cooler
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB DDR4 sticks @2133

These are parts from my old pc aroun a year to a year and a half old.
SSD: 512Gb Kingston SSD (For OS and programs)
HDD 1: 1,5TB 7200RPM WD Green (This one for my games)
HDD 2: 2TB 7200RPM WD Green (This one is for my videos)
PSU: 600W MOD Xstream (This is a 2 and a half year old PSU)

I use windows 10 Pro and have re installed it recently (2 Jan 2017)

Help and suggestions are very much appreciated!

Greetings!

There are many things that could be happening here...Have you checked your temps? An inkling in the back of my brain is thinking that the issue may be around your CPU or PSU, and not your GPU. This is not a diagnosis, just a hunch due to you having issues while not taxing the GPU, but we will need to test to find out and narrow down what is actually going on.

I recommend using HWMonitor or RealTemp to see what your temps are doing on your CPU. HWMonitor will just give you straight up temps, whereas RealTemp will show you the margin you have between your operating temperature and your thermal limit...super handy to see. This will help us see if your CPU is thermal throttling.

The other possibility is your PSU. This wouldn't normally cause lower FPS, but could if your GPU is starving. The random blue screens and shut downs is what is leading me to think we need to take a look at the PSU. You PSU is halfway decent and made by OZC, but after some research, it seems that some folk have had similar problems as you, and found it to be the PSU. You are nearing the end of the 3 year warranty period, and just reading the reviews on Amazon for your PSU shows a trend in failure about this point in the life of the PSU. I recommend getting your PSU tested, or even better, if you can borrow a PSU from a friend to test on your system, that will help you see if the issue is there. If everything runs great with a different PSU, then you have narrowed it down.

I say start there, let us know what you find, and we can take that info to help figure this out (if those tests didn't tell you anything)...

Hope this helps!

Greetings!

First of all thank you very much for replying!

I was also thinking that the psu might be the problem and was checking if i could borrow a psu or just buy a new one since it's very old and not the best psu.
I think i will buy a 750w more specific a corsair 750m, let me know if it's a good choice.

And my temps when playing battlefield 1 on ultra while whatching netflix on my second monitor in HD my cpu is around 50-60 degrees celcius and with my heather on in my room (it gets real warm) around 70-75 celcius.
All 4 are around the same temp.

Thank you for your answer!

Just as I figured for the CPU temps...no issue there, but just wanted to rule it out. The Corsair is a decent PSU, but it is only 80+ Bronze rated...for not much more $, I would recommend the EVGA Supernova 750 G2. It is 80+ Gold and has twice the warranty time (10 years as compared to 5 with the Corsair). Also it is fully modular, so less unused cables floating around in the case.

Here is a link to the EVGA unit: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16817438017

Greetings!

Today i received and installed my new EVGA supernova 850W G2 but sadly i still get poor performance and some bleu screens.
Thanks for your help but i think my GPU is faulty and needs to be send in for a check up.
I'll keep you update and let me know if you think of something that could be the problem for these isseus!

Edit: I just started my programs and saw that all all my settings where gone.... And this happens a lot after i get a BSOD
