Currently have: gtx 960 + amd fx4300

Considering: gtx 960 + i5 6400

Is it worth switching to the i5, or is it not much different?

with the games you are playing, turn the settings all the way down to low. if you dont see the framerate increase much, you are CPU bottlenecked and upgrading would help out. if you lower the settings and the framerates skyrocket, your CPU isnt bottlenecking and i dont hink you will see much of an improvement.

im 99% sure thats accurate. can someone else confirm thats the bottleneck troubleshooting?

again it does really depend I have an old 8230 @4.0 I'm waiting to see what happen with AM4 even if I choose to go kaybe hopefully it will drive the price down a bit however I upgraded from an AMD 7970 to a 1070 and I got a very large increase in my FPS on the games I play which made it worth it so again just depends.
