Hello!

Whilst playing games my computer instantly crashes. It turns off instantly, makes a weird noise for half a second, and reboots without a blue screen or error message. In EventViewer I receive event ID 41 'kernel-power', where the system lost power unexpectedly. I had thought the issue was caused by the graphics card and was RMAing it, but the issue occurred once more with the card out and using integrated graphics. I believe it is either the power supply or the motherboard.

I am using an EVGA SuperNOVA 850W G2 PSU, and an Asus Sabertooth Z170 S motherboard. I have an i7 6700k and an EVGA GTX 1080 FTW. Windows 10 64 bit. Any help is appreciated.

Solution
1) If you oc the cpu, 6700k, reset it to the base frequency.
2) Using the software to monitor the cpu/gpu temp during the games/furmark.
3) Go into the BIOS to check the +3.3V, +5V, and +12V in the hardware monitor section, you want to see the voltages are within +/- 5%, more info https://www.lifewire.com/power-supply-voltage-tolerances-2624583
4) Test the RAM one by one with MemTest86 http://www.memtest86.com/download.htm You can enable the intel XMP profile in the memory section.
5) Update the BIOS, drivers, like the chipset driver. Try uninstall the GPU driver with DDU http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html then reinstall the GPU driver again.
