unable to recognize seagate internal drive

I have been having this problem a lot. started with an external, which I took out of its external housing and put inside computer, still doesn't see it

now, I bought seagate 1tb Barracuda internal, would detect. Amazon sent replacement. won't detect it

Have you checked if the drive is recognized by your BIOS? If "yes", have you checked if it's detected by either Disk Management or Device Manager? Here's how to open them: How to access Disk Management in Windows & How to access Device Manager in Windows.
Also try the drive with a different SATA port and cables, to see if the same thing happens.
You could also try updating or resetting your BIOS, to see if that fixes things up.
