I am building a new kaby lake system, and I am stuck on the mobo.
Should I get the Asus Maximus IX hero? Or the MSI gaming M7?

**Edit**
My main use for this machine will be gaming. I plan on overclocking the 7700k in it as well. My main concerns are overall build quality, temperature, overclocking, networking, and audio.

Also, are themed builds worth the hype? Mostly everything except the Mobo and monitor will be corsair. I'm planning on buying next series' MSI xx70 GPU.

Thank you for your responses.

Solution
Get Maximus XI Hero it is top class motherboard with high quality components and unparalleled software support.
In my place(India) MSI has some Quality control issues. Can't say how it is in your place. Don't wanna take risk with it.
Otherwise Board is good but software support is lower than ASUS ROG series.

Overall ASUS MAXIMUS XI HERO beats MSI Gaming M7.

What are the main requirements needs? oc ? gaming?
For overclockers, there is an LN2 mode jumper featured on the Hero and an 8+2 digital phase design which is accompanied by the excellent and award winning ROG UEFI BIOS.
M7 even features an 8+2+1 digitally designed power phase array and even now has LLC (load line calibration).
For M.2 SSD, i will choose M7, it support M.2 shield can help M.2 cool down.

I'd been using MSI from my first build and before I using Z170 M7 but now I'm using Z270 Maximus Code simle cos the mobo has aesthetic . Actually i'm struggling to oc'ing the mobo, so far I know MSI is really easy to oc'ing from their bios and surge protection feature. I regret I bought ASUS for seriously they have to upgrade their bios to be simple as like MSI bios.

I have both boards originally buying the M7 first even though I have exclusively used Asus boards in the past. The M7 is a good board and I did find the over clocking much easier than on Asus boards but it had one major problem for me that I just could not handle, a really big and bright red LED that could not be turned off. I spent time and money to make my case the way I wanted with a blue and purple scheme and this red LED was just ruining my setup.

The Asus IX hero has it's own set of problems, took me forever to get the Ethernet drivers loaded but I am generally happier now with this board and use to overclocking on Asus boards so do not find the interface intimidating (there is an EZ mode as well).
