Second Hard Drive running oddly.

Recently I purchased a second storage drive as an SSD. I owned a 1 tb WD Caviar Black HDD before this and had wiped it to prepare for installing my ssd. I loaded up the OS on to the SSD and it worked perfectly fine. But whenever I try to do anything in my HDD, the window that shows all the files freezes consistently. Installing software is significantly slower than before. Is this a sign of a failing drive or just a faulty driver that might need reinstallation.

Hey there.

Sorry to hear about the issues you're experiencing with your HDD.

I'd recommend that you give it a try with a different SATA port and cables, to see if the same thing happens. Make sure that both drives are properly connected with no loose cables.
Other than that, if you've written important data on the HDD I'd suggest that you back it up, just to be on the safe side. After that, you should download DLG and run both Quick and Extended tests, to see if anything alarming shows up. Here's how to do it: How to test a drive for problems using Data Lifeguard Diagnostics for Windows.

Hope that helps. Please let me know how everything goes.

There's nothing on the hard drive currently as I wiped it. I'll give the solutions a try in the morning and let you know how it goes. I think your hunch may be right about the cable. I'll try rearranging my ports and seeing if I have any extra cables lying around.
