How much disk space is required for Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS 32-Bits.
I want to run it in VirtualBox.
I know minimum 5 GB and recommended 25 GB. But I don't want to give 25GB. I will install some essencial softwares for web browsing, image and video editing, documents works.

So, how much disk space should I allocate in VirtualBox? Is 12 GB is good according to my requirements?

I am a beginner and never used ubuntu before. I want to learn it.

Solution
Make the disk a 50GB dynamically allocated image. It will only use as much storage as it needs and you will have plenty of potential for expansion.

Once you click on the "New" button in VirtualBox to start the creation of your virtual disk, it's all pretty self explanatory. Almost every option can stay at default except maybe the amount of RAM allocated for your VM and the disk space. After you create your virtual disk, then you start it and point it to your Ubuntu ISO, then the install process will go like it normally would. If you feel like you goofed something up, just delete it and do it again.
