does it matter if you change CPU, does it change anything at all?

Title doesn't help much but what i mean is i'm getting a i5-6600 with LGA1151 socket, saving up for a i7-7700k so when i do eventually get the 7700k and install it will it erase anything, seems like a stupid question but im just making sure. I know things are stored on SSD and HDD's but yeah.

well in your mentioned case, I would be wondering what Motherboard your getting with your I5-6600 because if the board is NOT a Z170 or Z270 you will find that buying a I7-7700K (which you can overclock) will also mean the need for a new motherboard (if you intend to overclock)
but if you have a B or H1xx series board and do not want to overclock then save a few dollars and get an upgrade to a i7-7700 (no K)
