Hi i currently own a 8gb 2400Hz DDR4 RAM. Want to get new 16gb RAM of 3000Hz. People are saying 3000Hz means overclocked. Should i stay with the standard 2400Hz or can i use 3000hz without worrying about such stuff?
My motherboard is Asus Z170 pro gaming. It supports upto 3400Hz (O.C.) RAM.

NOTE: Both 2400hz & 3000hz RAM are same price and i dont intend use different speed ram together. I will give away the old 2400hz ram to a friend.

What should i do go ahead with the 3000hz ram?

Both 2400MHz and 3000MHz are XMP profiles on a z170 board. Both will run at 2133MHz without enabling XMP. I have been running 3000MHz RAM on my system for a year now without any issue. I can't say I notice much difference with or without XMP enabled though.
