...is same as Cisco Cable Modem with Digital Voice Model EPC2203?
I found this article from March, saying Cisco one had big security bug
https://tools.cisco.com/security/center/content/CiscoSecurityAdvisory/cisco-sa-20160309-cmre

I'm not sure if it affected my old modem as well or not. Are they same type?

So basically same model, just different name? Hoo boy, I've got to go and ask my ISP if they patched that bug then... no way for myself to check that, is there?

if they have it as a compatible device for their network, they have tested them and know about security risk firmware updates needed to their network, when you get the box, reset to factory settings on it (plug it in press tiny hole button 5 seconds let it cycle, plug cable into it., what that does it clear any configs from box, the ISP system will then automatically compare your firmware to the one they have as acceptable, and if your lower set it will update it right away. they all do this prior to leaving you get on their network..

why when you turn it on they always say anywhere form 5 mins to 15 mins before the system will be ready for use.

Well I've had this modem since 2009 and this fix is from last year according to the article. Should I do that reset thing right now myself anyways? Or just not touch it and trust ISP to have applied the fix already by themselves?
