I am a newbie when it comes to things like this and I'm also new to this website ( I'm not even sure if I set the category right) . I'm going to buy a new video card as I mentioned in the title will it run modern games smoothly even though I have low RAM?
(Also the ram is ddr2)

Solution
That amount of RAM might cause some issues like frequent or even constant stuttering as 2GB is very less. 4GB is targeted as good amount for light gaming and productivity applications. 8GB is ideal for gaming. 16GB is the maximum for gaming and light editing. Anything above 16GB is overkill for gaming. Even 16GB is overkill for gaming as very few games utilize more than 8GB RAM.

I personally have 32GB DDR3 RAM in my rig and the games that I play never exceed the total RAM utilization of 4.6GB (for the whole system). But I have that much memory because I do video editing as well

Its generally not recommended to mix and match sizes. Always use identical sticks/modules with same frequency and timings to avoid any stability issues (same manufacturer is also recommended).

It is recommended to use identical sticks with same frequency, timings and size to avoid stability issues

Frequency is the speed at which the RAM runs such as 600MHz,1333MHz, 1600MHz, 2133MHz and so on

Timing is the latency which defines how many clock cycles the memory module will delay in returning data requested by the CPU so the shorter the timing is the better (such as CL10 > CL11) CL= CAS (Column Access Strobe) Latency

If you have an AMD CPU buy it, if you have Intel, don't
