Okay guys so I'm looking to get a new z270 mobo but I'm having a bit of a debate. I'm a moderate PC user, lots of games, mild level overclocking( find Max stable, and take it down a couple notches), medium to heavy user overall. I will be buying the i5 7600K. I plan to clock it around 4.3-4.4 Ghz, should be no problem. I should be able to achieve this with almost any z270 board however my budget is around 150-170. Here comes the point where I am stuck. In this price range I have been looking at the ASUS TUF Z270 Mark 2, the ASUS Prime Z270-AR, and the ASUS ROG Strix Z270H Gaming. Looking between them all, the prime looks to be my best bet. My thoughts being the VRMs are quite a few more on the Prime board. It seems the AR is "top of the line" for the prime series, however I do know the TUF and the Strix series are more geared towards "power users". However the AR Prime board seems to be on the high end of the Prime series while the TUF board and the Strix board appear to be on the lower ends of their respective series. Can someone please help me out? Am I right to assume that the ASUS Prime Z270-AR will overclock a bit better and have a few more features than the other two. Thanks!

Yea I have been through ASUS's website about 1000 times. I just wanted some more very specific information about these boards that ASUS does not provide and I cannot seem to tell, ie: better power phases etc.. thanks though!

I am kind of scratching my head on this one as well Mattorrr, our taxes are coming in and I am blessed to be allowed by my other half to purchase a tad better PC then I have at the moment. I am actually still pushing a very old Dell Core2Duo and trust me I am unsure how it still cranks up to even message here lol.

From what I am gathering so far the AR seems to have the Aura light set up with it, still not 100% sure if that is a fact because the site is kind of vague but over all I am not finding much of a comparison between the Prime Z270A or the AR. But what I can tell you...I am building my setup from scratch myself and have gone to numerous sites for price comparisons and everytime I put the Z270A in my cart it seems to vanish due to being sold out...damn taxes need to hurry up and get here lol. This tells me its a consumer loved board already so I wouldn't stress to much on what to get...seem the A model has a lot of options and room to grow if you ever want to go from the i5 7th gen to the i7 7th gen later.

My budget is super tight due to having to build all the components from scratch but I feel the A is gonna be worth the price...and will be a valid solid mobo.

AR = Retailer version, sold at Fry's etc.
A = Online

No other difference. They do this to stop price matches in store. Shady business practices.

The retailer/online thing is wrong. There are differences.... no display port or dvi on AR model, as well as no bios/cmos reset, or xmp quick switches. The A model has those extra features; that is why it is 10 dollars more.
