My old cpu (amd a6 6400k) was overheating massively maxing out at around 95c, after re applying thermal paste it still hit similar Temps, I decided to wait till I got my new cpu, (amd athlon x4 880k) and even with a fresh cpu, and new wraith cooler I'm still hitting Temps of around 85 after playing demanding games for a while, what is wrong with it ? It's annoying me like anything

Yeah it sounds like 1 fan, bad case, and a warm room (and probably dust), is your problem.

Processors generally can last forever, but if you're bouncing off the thermal limiter and its throttling thats just about the only way to degrade a processor so fixing this should be your utmost priority (aside from the fact your system doesn't run right).

If you cant get more fans into your case, get a new one. If you can post up some pics of what you've got it would help. Also look to cool the room, your room should be around 73 degrees F max, for the PC to cool well enough.

1 case fan, not sure how dusty it could be, as I don't know how to get my front panel off to inspect it, and room is slightly hotter than room temperature once my pc has been on for a while

What case do you have. You should be adding at least 1 case fan. And as for room temperature, any chance you can get a thermometer going in there? Is it warm in the room? cool? Is the computer on a carpet?

You should also figure out how to take the panel off and clean out any dust.

I can take side panel off I've dusted it all out with compressed air, but drive cages ect block the view of the fan from the inside of the pc, and my room feels warm definitely but not ridiculously warm

Speccy, but the Temps wouldn't annoy me so much if I couldn't feel my games slowing down, in games like gta 5 their is definite lag spikes that their isn't when my cpu is cooler, when I first start playing my cpu is around 75

Your CPU is massively overheating if its throttling like that. That CPU throttles at 71 c.

You've definitely installed the cooler properly?

Can you try leaving the side panel off the case and directing a fan towards it?

When the CPU is idling it should be around 20 deg c.

I'm 99 percent sure I have, and I guess I can but that's not really a permanent solution :/ I just have bad luck with cooling it seems, really annoying that I have to worry about my Temps all the time

It's not massively throttling, but every 4-5 seconds their is 2 frames with a large time gap between them , which makes the game feel very un pleasant

These bulldozer/piledriver based Athlons run really, really hot, just like everything else that is based on that architecture. Both my a6-5400k and 760k, at stock clocks, idled between 30-40C with an ambient of -7C, with the older Hyper tx3 strapped to them (not the evo, and not the new one). Under full load, they'd quickly shoot up to about 65-70C on the same cooler with the same ambient temps. If you're not running the APU in full (if you have a discrete GPU), temps shouldn't be nearly this high, with idle at around 23C (same -7 ambient), under load at about 55. Long story short, I put my computer outside during a typical upstate NY blizzard at 2AM and ran benchmarks, for fun. I don't live there anymore, so I can't do further sub-zero air cooling tests.

Your temps honestly sound about right for a case with horrible airflow and a garbage cooler, especially if you have a hot AF AMD GPU sitting underneath it (I know all about it, had a heavily overclocked HD7950 under my 760k for a long time). All I can say is to get rid of the drive cage, get more bigger fans and move more air, and get a proper CPU cooler. I know the wraith is plenty better than the old stock cooler (I have a couple of nice paperweights lying around, hehe) but nowhere near as good as this old $15 Hyper tx3, let alone a T4 or Hyper212 or anything else. Definitely don't overclock that 880k until you get a proper cooler, but once you do, have at it.

TL;DR You require additional fans. And a real CPU cooler.

Honestly, I wouldn't know how to go about getting additional fans, and the stock cooler I've seen work great for some people, including some overclocking with it and only reaching 65 under load, so I'm dissapointed, but I will work on abother fan for my system
