Hi, im selling my XFX AMD HD7850 1GB and im getting 1700AR$, i have another 1200AR$ so i have in total 2900AR$. With that money i could buy:

-New RX460 2GB 2900AR$
-Used R9 290 4GB 3200AR$, nice price, i think it must have something, but it's a recognized seller in the forum. But i read that the R9 290 has a lot of problems, heating is the major one.
-Used GTX 970 4GB 3800AR$, dont know if i can make it if i get an extra help...

I'm open to other suggestions.

Also there is another thing. I have a Cooler master rs-600-pcar-e3 (600w) and for what i read it could handle the GTX970 or the RX460 but some people say yes and another no to the R9 290. What do you think? i can't change it now, i don't have the money.

My other specs are:
-Intel i5-2500
-2x Kingston HyperX 1600Mhz (running at 1333Mhz by limitation by the i5 or the motherboard?)
-Asus p8h77-m pro
-Amd hd 7850 1gb
-Disc: wd5000aakx-001ca0

16AR$=1 US dollar , but things are more expensive here.

Thanks a lot in advance, and sorry for my bad english!

I wouldn't trust that PSU with any of the cards. It's old and less than reliable..

GTX 970>R9 290>RX 460 but how about an RX 470 if you cant get the 970?

Am not sure I'd buy from someone on a forum because yes they have heat issues and draw a lot of power. It isnt that much of a bargain in USD ($200).That would be the least reliable one with the PSU.

The RX470 (used) costs 5000AR$, everything here is considerably more expensive if it's newer. I don't know what to do, the RX460 is not a great update, just for the 2GB, that 1GB is getting me troubles. The R9 290 would be a lot better, i could run everything in ultra, same with the GTX970 but its more expensive. But i dont want problems with the PSU, if i could be sure that the r9 290 will work fine i'll go for it. Thanks for the answer!

Wow things are expensive in Argentina! $300 for a used RX 470?? How about the 1050Ti? Same story?

Because the 290 is so power hungry I wouldn't risk it with your PSU, especially if you think it has been worked hard and may not be 100% right.

My opinion with that PSU would be to go for the 460 or 970 if you can. Thats just what I think though. Up to you if you want to risk the 290.

You tell me, is complicated to live here and have good tech stuffs. Is there a way to check how much power is my PSU giving?. Thanks for the answer!

I would like to hear some other opinions, specially with the R9 290 working on my PSU.

I would give up a bit of performance in order to keep power demands down. The 460, with 2gb does give you practical advantages over a 1gb 7850, so even if performance isn't boosted that much if at all it's still a decent upgrade. A GTX 950, if available, might be worth spending a bit more for, since it's not too much more power hungry.

Yes, i guess the 2GB will make a big difference. I could go easily for a GTX 960 instead of GTX 950. Now someone offers me a GTX 980 for my phone, im considering it. Will my PSU work okey with a 980?. The only problem would be with the R9 290 that use a lot of power?. Thanks for the answer!

Heres the review of your psu. Its true power is 450w.

Stay away from power hungry cards and try gtx 750ti or 1050series which consume less than 80w of power

Thanks for the answer!, but the 980 or 970 should work okey with it?, what about the 1060? Sorry but im very new at this with the PSU stuff.

The OCZ is sold. That was fast.
I'm thinking of selling the phone and my budget will be 4900AR$. With that i could buy:

-Used gtx 970 4GB and a good PSU (selling mine at 900AR$ aprox)
-Buy a new RX 470 4GB
-Buy a new RX 480 4GB (5500AR$, a little complicated)
-Buy a new GTX 1060 3GB (3gb is what is making me doubt, 5400AR$, a little complicated too)

For what i read the RX 470/480 should be okey with my actual PSU right? they consume less than the GTX970/980.

Thanks in advance!

It could be, but in recent games with directX12 amd have a good fps boost, and nvidia is worst than dx11, i dont know if its driver related. Also maybe the RX470 will have better dx12 support compared to gtx 970

Hey, me bothering again :) . That will be the last question to finish the thread.

I'm going to buy the RX480 4GB in some days. I see that the local have new models. I can choose between:

-RX480 4GB DDR5 ASUS DUAL OC
-RX480 4GB DDR5 MSI GAMING
-RX480 4GB DDR5 RS XFX
-RX480 4GB SAPPHIRE NITRO+

My psu is a cooler master 600w, so the Power Consumption is an important factor i guess...

They are at the same price. Thanks in advance.
