Please help, my system doesn't seem to be running at its full potential :(

Okay so I built my first computer like 3/4 of a year ago and id say it's a pretty decent system. However, it doesn't feel like it's performing as well as it should be considering the components I've got inside. I'm rocking an AMD Fx 8350 overclocked to 4.4ghz and cooled by a corsair h100i v2. I've got 8gb of corsair vengeance pro ram at 1600mhz. I've got an AMD R9 390 8gb graphics card from msi running at factory speeds. I've got a 600w EVGA 80+ bronze power supply. I've got an MSI 970 gaming motherboard and all of that is housed in my NZXT noctis 450 case with 3 intake 120mm fans, a 140mm exhaust fan and 2 120mm exhaust fans on the h100i.

All those components and I'm hardly reaching 40fps on Gta V with the settings on high/medium and struggling to keep 30fps on kerbal space program. Both of them on a 1080p panel on Windows 10 with the absolute latest drivers for everything.

Please help, any response is appreciated. Say if you need more info, I'll happily provide it, thanks

Your motherboard can only handle up to 200w CPU's. At 4.4ghz you in the 225w range thus your CPU is throttling from lack of power. I suggest you try 4.1 to 4.2ghz and see if it helps. Maybe even better test it a stock.

Thank you, I tested stock, 4.1ghz and 4.2ghz and 4.2 got me the best results and fixed Kerbal Space Program but im still getting extreamly bad FPS on GTA V tho, no matter how low I turn down the settings. Any ideas with that?

Make sure u have the latest AMD driver for GTA 5 installed. Make sure all you have no process stealing CPU time. Check for viruses and adware. Use Ccleaner and advanced systemcare to clean and optimize settings for games. Use boost to turn off services you dont need.

If your anti-virus as using up to many resources switch to something light weight like Avast free.

Anti Aliasing: Only FXAA(MSAA off)
Texture Quality: Very high
Shader Quality: High
Shadow Quality: Normal(For me changing shadows have a huge difference in performance)
Reflection Quality: High
Water Quality: High
Particles Quality: High
Grass Quality: Normal(This have a huge impact in performance too)
Soft Shadow options: Softer
Post FX: High
Anistropic filtering: 16x
Depth of field: Off(Didnt really test this)
Ambient occulsion: High
Advanced Graphics: All off

Now this is what affects the CPU the most..if u want the best performance..use this settings which worked for me atleast

Population Density: 45%
Population Variety: 50%
Distance Scaling: 50%

Advanced Graphics all off instead of streaming while flying. This should get you 60fps mostly with 50~60 while driving fast.

Cheers, I tried this first and it didnt work so I uninstalled and reinstalled the game and applied your settings and now im getting 60fps minimum and sometimes it goes up to 90-100fps.
