So I have my PC monitor connected through DisplayPort, and I also have this nifty little DirectTV box which allows me to watch TV via HDMI.

So when I switch from DP to HDMI, and watch TV, I don't hear any sounds with my headset. I tried connecting my headset USB in the actually box, but still no sound. I'm don't know what to do, or even if I can get sound through my headphones.

Any suggestions? Any tips? Anything I should know? Anything I have to buy?

BTW:
Monitor is Asus PG279q

Thanks!

My monitor does have built-in speakers, so do you think I can do something with that? Also I checked the audio settings for the DTV and I can't really find anything for my cause.

I didn't set it up myself, one of the DirectTV workers came over to make our internet faster and also installed this box, and he set everything up.

What TVBox do you have?
I don't think it's surprising that you can't get sound thru your headset, that is connected to a PC, from a a TVBox connected to a monitor.. it doesn't flow like that.
You get sound from TVBox to monitor speakers fine?
What headset are you using?

1) I think its the Direct TV mini genie. something like that. It has the DirecTV logo on the left, says Network right next to it, and says Dolby and all that crap on the bottom right. Its small too.
2) Yeah its a little derp.
3)Haven't tested that, I need to do some sound stuff still with the monitor speakers.
4) Logitech G430

I believe your tv/monitor has an Audio Out jack (suited for headphones) and I assume it's a 3.5mm stereo.
I see that your Logitech headset comes with some kind of USB adapter..what is it?
Your easiest solution is to always use the Audio Out on the TV so whether it is the TVBox or PC playing on it, that's what you'll hear

ahh..so, is there an audio out on the TV..ideally a 3.5mm jack?
If so, remove your USB adapter so you just have the 2 3.5mm plugs and use the green one into the TV to hear via the headset. Remove the plug from the TV jack should make the TV use its built-in speakers. Regardless whether you are watching the PC or watching the TVBox, you then have the option to listen to that via speakers or headset.
You could also get an extension cable for the pink (mic) jack of the headset so that it will be able to reach back to your PC, and you would not lose the ability to voicechat through the PC. Make sure your Window's audio settings tell the Mic that it's using that connection for voice.

Still no sound! Ahhh!

Alright, I'll basically give you a rundown of whats going on and what I'm plugging in.

I have the power cable in, the HDMI cable which goes from my DTV box to my PG279q. And another cable that I think connects me to the internet.

So, in order to watch TV, I have to do HDMI. I also have a DisplayPort cable for gaming. I tried only putting the HDMI in, and still no sound. I put the green 3.5 into my monitor, no sound. Checked DirectTV audio help, it just says to either change Language, Dolby something ( I forgot what it was, but I have if on), and sound effects to low/med/high. I checked sure on my remote that it wasn't mute and tried putting the volume up. On my PC itself I checked my sound card, and it confirms the PG279q has a HDMI Digital Jack inside.

So I have no idea whats going on at this point, but really thanks for the help.

Also, what do you mean by "remove the plug from the TV jack". Also I have a ,monitor, not a TV.
