Folks, not sure which forum to post this:

If I am running a 100TB NAS as a Plex Server with at most 4 clients, which cpu is better:

3770k (4 cores with higher clock)
3930k (6 cores slightly lower clock)

My confusion is that with the 3770k, I use onboard graphics so no need for a card. However, with the 3930k, I'll have to use a dedicated card -which will likely be a very lowend card.

It's a headless server.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Sorry for the delay in responding. Yes, the PC will have transcoding to do. Thus, the question boils down to is 2 more cores better than and additional 500mhz on 4 cores (difference between 3930k and 3770k since I won't be overclocking the system).

After I better understand that, then I need to know if using a dedicated video card is worth it. Most of the transcoding is done with CPU right? Or does it use the graphics?
