So my friend was able to let me test out his gtx690 before I can buy it off of him. Haven't switched out any hardware for the longest so I was wondering if I'd have to just do a complete rebuild just to get it working or just a specific part to upgrade(more power?/DDR2 ram not good with DDR5 card?).

It can't seem to fully detect the card when installed. It shows up on the Device manager but with an exclamation mark inside a yellow triangle next to it. And there seems to be a black border around the screen as well making the Windows screen appear much smaller. Using 2 6x2 pcie pins to connect it to the psu. Any ideas may be appreciated.

As long as you have a PCIe slot to put it in, it should be compatible. Make sure to reinstall the drivers, even if you had an Nvidia card prior. What is your system specs? And don't spend too much on the card, the 2Gb can be problematic these days, though you can usually find a few settings to drop to make it run smooth.

I'm thinking the Mobo might not even be compatible anymore. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling while in safe mode. From the Device manager it's giving me an error on the Display Adapter section. It says Code 35. Searched what it was. Says I have to update BIOS but unfortunately it's been at it's last update for years now.

I put back in my old gpu and it detects it just fine. And i'm hoping it's not a faulty gtx690. I was there when he uninstalled and removed the card from his system.

Mobo: Asus Maximus II Formula
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor @ 3.00 GHz
RAM: 4GB Corsair Dominator
PSU: Antec HCG-900
