Recently I bought a EVGA 1060 with 3GB of memory (Yes, the 6gb is only 50 dollars more, but I also needed more RAM). I'm using the A-10 5800k CPU, which has 3.8GHz, and is quad core. That sounds pretty nice, but pretty much since the start of my PC, (2012) the thing has seemed slow. Maybe it's so worn out or burnt out or something, and it's probably bottle-necking.

My motherboard is the MSI fm2-a85xa-g65, whicn only supports the AMD A- seires, and the AMD Anthon series. Yes, it's pretty terrible. So my question is, what is the best CPU I could get, without really spending that much? I'm really bad it finidng and comparing them all, so I have to ask here. I 100% definitely need to spend under $150, which won't be hard since they're all low end and almost all under 150 anyways. I'm trying to order it on Friday, any help apprectiated. Tired of having low end hardware for five years, be nice to at least get to the middle.

[Unimportant but slightly more details: Also, my 3DMark benchmarking scores for the Physics, on the Medium end skydiver is like, 3000. So less than 40fps at all times. Which is especially how I know it's crap. That and Arma 3 runs no better, almost worse]

Solution
You will still be in the low-end of CPUs no matter what FM2+ CPU you get. http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/AMD-A10-7890K-APU-vs-AMD-A10-5800K-APU/m118648vs2007

You will need a different motherboard to get to a better range of CPUs.

Viable options for around your $150 budget include:

1.) i5-2500 + LGA 1155 mobo w/ DDR3 RAM (buy used)

2.) i3-6100 + LGA 1151 mobo + DDR4 RAM
http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i3-6100-vs-AMD-A10-5800K-APU/3511vs2007

3.) Wait for Kaby Lake low-end hyper-threaded CPUs (which would be faster than the best FM2+ CPU) Pentium/Core i3
Would also require new motherboard and DDR4 RAM.
